# Billing follows your plan more closely

Plan changes and payment disputes change your credits and charges in a predictable way, and features that use AI check your plan first.

- **Upgrades add the difference.** When you upgrade, your pool gains the difference between the two plans. It does not start a new pool.
- **Downgrades wait for the period end.** A downgrade keeps your current plan until the billing period ends, with no refund or charge today. Choosing your current plan again cancels the pending change.
- **Disputes pause collection.** A disputed payment reverses the credits it bought and pauses collection until the dispute closes. If you win, the credits come back.
- **Top-ups need a plan.** Top-up packs are available only with an active subscription. Without one, **Add credits** is disabled.
- **Paid features check your plan.** Without an active subscription, these are refused with "No active subscription": AI column previews, competitor discovery and profiling, knowledge website scans, inbox reply drafts, chat file uploads, workflow generation, and ticket triage. Workspaces set up before the paywall began are not affected.
- **Companion runs need a plan.** Starting a ticket run on your own computer needs an active subscription. A run that already started is not stopped.
- **Extra High effort needs Pro.** On plans below Pro, agents that ask for Extra High reasoning effort run at High.
